| At LEAD we want you to;
- LIVE the life you choose
- EXPERIENCE success and be allowed to fail
- ACCESS all that our community
has to offer
- DEVELOP to become the greatest possible version
of yourself.
We work with over 400 people with disabilities and 60 community facilitators; and we’re still growing!
LEAD is more than a name, it’s a way of thinking: one that focusses
on people, community attitudes that embrace diversity and promote
tolerance, and opportunities for people with disabilities
to enjoy life as valued members of our community.
We invite you to join us on this exciting, sometimes challenging journey.
We're changing:
Over the next six months - the first half of 2011 - LEAD is introducing a new, person-directed service model; one that will further improve the lives of those we work with. This change is prompted by our desire for the planning, development and sustainability of our programs to keep pace with new national and international directions in human service delivery.
Our new model will allow those we work with to engage in a greater range of community opportunities. As we make the transition to this new way of working we'll likely meet issues that need to be resolved and this could cause some interruptions to services. We will be working to keep these to a minimum and appreciate the support and understanding of our clients and carers during this period.
Recent history:
LEAD is the amalgamation of three services - CAPS, WorkPlaces, BusinessServices - that have
operated in the ACT region for over 15 years. In March 2007 we began our journey from our former identity - Community Programs Association - to becoming LEAD. Under the new banner we
established Access, Employment, Contracting, and Development teams
to work more closely together. We also re-designed our organisational structure so that we could respond holistically to better plan,
develop and implement person-centred services. As we've continued to grow and change, our goal has been to maintain a culture
of continuous improvement but always true to our vision statement; “We strive for equality and inclusion for all”
Disability Disclosure information is available here.
Complaints: We want to know about any aspect of LEAD services, policies or procedures that concern our clients or others. Grievances and complaints are welcome: They will be dealt with quickly, confidentially and in a respectful and supportive environment. The ACT Disability & Community Services Commissioner also receives and considers complaints about the provision of services for people with disability and/or for their carers. |
